Generosity That Transforms Futures

Merry Christmas! As we enter this season of celebration of the birth of our Lord, we give thanks to God for the countless ways He has provided for Cadaniño through faithful friends and partners. Among them are Dr. Darold and Pamela Opp, long-time mission supporters who have sponsored 249 children worldwide in orphanages, schools and afterschool programs. Several years ago, through a friend's recommendation, they heard about Cadaniño and felt led to partner with us in our work serving vulnerable children and families in Guatemala. Here is their story.

"Pamela and I are proud to support the Cadaniño Ministry!

Several years ago, we were looking for another ministry to support in Guatemala City when a friend at Orphan Outreach recommended Cadaniño to us. After intense research, we were amazed at how efficiently they operated on such a limited budget! Their annual reports were more detailed than those of the large ministries we've worked with. Financial accountability was paramount, and they passed that test with flying colors. It has been three years since we partnered with Cadaniño, and to see the growth they have had in the quality of their programs, thanks to additional partners coming on board, has been impressive, and they have used the resources incredibly well.

We began by sponsoring children and have added funds to support ongoing ministry needs every year. Beyond being an excellent after-school support for the students, we have had the privilege of seeing the on-site youth pastor teach at Cadaniño facilities. As a retired healthcare professional, education is very important to me, and I've been thrilled to see how seriously Cadaniño invests in the spiritual and academic growth of every child.

With sponsored children in eight countries, we can confidently say that Cadaniño offers the most diverse opportunities for students among any ministry we work with. Timothy, Sharie, and the Cadaniño team have created an innovative STEM program that we have personally shared with our church ministries in Ethiopia. After 32 years of supporting global missions, we recognize excellence, and Cadaniño is a hidden gem!

If there is one important thing I've learned in life, it's to get out of your comfort zone, but never your gifting zone. Discover your spiritual gift and pour your passion into it to honor God! God never made a soul so small that the things of this world could fill it; only Jesus Christ can fill that void. The secret to joyful generosity is giving out of beauty, not duty, out of compassion, not pity. Pamela and I have learned to give freely and love deeply. We realize not everyone has the spiritual gift of generosity, but as believers we are all called to give cheerfully. Jesus was so right when He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' That's why we've made giving our lifestyle, and it has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. After 32 years of giving, we have concluded you cannot outgive God…but it is still fun trying!”

Rebeca: "Cadaniño has been a great blessing in my life. In technology classes, I've learned a wide range of skills, from office applications to professional photo editing, which has helped me with both school and personal projects. In Bible class, I've grown in my knowledge of Jesus, and I'm thankful for how they teach us His Word and help us draw closer to Him. The reading program has helped me build good habits, and in math, I've learned easier ways to solve problems. I learn things that I haven't even learned in school yet, which makes it easier when I'm in class. I'm grateful to God, to Cadaniño, and to Dr. Opp and Pamela for giving me the opportunity to receive classes here; it has truly helped me a lot."
