Guatemalan News February 2014.

We have really enjoyed our in-home youth group with the girls from Fundaninos. We have come to see each one of them as special and unique to God.

Missionaries, like most people, experience good days, and difficult days. Our ministry is going well. Recently, after a particularly trying day, we had the girls over to our house, and I saw once again the wonderful opportunity that God has given us to help, parent, pastor, love and train these girls. It reaffirmed to me the importance of the calling we have to pour into their lives.

Like all of us, they have sinned and been hurt, they are broken, have been mistreated and abused, they have felt the injustices of life, yet through a desire to be in Christ they are finding redemption and through striving to have Christ in them, they are being sanctified.

Sometimes as I look at my life, and the mistakes and failures I have made, my pride tells me that there is no way that God can use me, yet as I read and study His Word, I find consolation in the fact that it is only because I have been broken that God can use me to help anyone at all.

This Month

  • Assisted Orphan Outreach with the setup of a new computer classroom at the Ravine school in Chimaltenango. The families of many of the children who attend the school make a living in a garbage dump. Attend school and receiving a Christian education is bringing transformational change to them.
  • Taught weekly woodworking and cooking classes to the students at the orphanage Fundaninos. Our students held a bake sale at church using the recipes they had learned.
  • Sandra Tax, one of my former students, is now working for us in the Precious Moments school teaching 4th grade and computer classes.
  • Trained teachers at the Precious Moments school how to use the educational software in our computer classroom to teach the children. Developed a curriculum whereby all students from 2nd-6th grade are receiving regular computer classes.
  • Continued with our in-home youth group with girls from Fundaninos, memorized verses, prayed, worshiped, played games and cared for them.
