In our vocational training programs for the children and students we serve in Guatemala, we are always looking for new skills to teach them that will benefit them in their lives and provide them with employment when they leave.

Among the variety of programs we run, including culinary arts, carpentry, woodworking, typing, office applications and programming, we will be starting an app design class next year.

As the world moves more and more to mobile computing, app development skills will be increasingly in demand and those have them will be able to work for clients anywhere in the world. We believe that this is a valuable skill that is worth teaching to the students who have the aptitude.

To do this we need a Mac. While we can design the apps on the computers we have, in order to upload them to the app store, Apple requires us to use a mac.

I thought I would check and see if anyone had a macbook to donate? It can be older, although not older than 2010. It doesn’t have to be a fancy one, it just has to work.

If so, you can write me at: timothymartiny@gmail.com

Thanks!
